"FOR THE GOOD OF THE BODY"
by Tom Chapin
Little Rock, Arkansas
For the good of the body. If that is the answer, what is the question? A number of questions
would fit -
Why would a person choose to undergo the tem-porary discomfort of physi-cal exercise?
Why would a person in-clude foods in his diet (e.g. vegetables, fruits) when he preferred
sweets over any-thing else?
Why would a person choose to get a sufficient amount of rest when he would rather be working
(or playing)?
Why would a person choose to sing a song with which he was bored?
Why would a person choose to sit close to others when it could be more com-fortable to find a
nice empty spot in the auditorium?
Why would a person choose to keep his dislikes and complaints to himself rather than openly
voicing them in a crowd?
Why would a person choose to sing a song which was written in a style he didn't like?
For the good of the Body!
