"JOINED BY A PRAYER"

by Linda Winget

In Honduras she prayed to her Lord and King,
"Oh build me a house" from her heart she'd sing.

In Minden we prayed to our God above,
"Lord bless our efforts with your heart of love."

Her name was Norma and little did we know,
Her prayers and ours as one would flow.

She lived up the mountain in a little shack
Having to haul water from the well and back.

As weeks went on we gathered things to sell.
We prayed to God that our mission wouldn't fail.

Would our efforts be rewarded, would we all get to go?
The answer was yes, but we didn't know.

She continued to pray as the weeks went by,
While back at home we made plans to fly.

Her prayer wasn't answered as other groups came.
Other houses were built, but hers was the same.

All our plans were blessed by God's holy hand
As He listened to Norma in another land.

We were all shocked as our total did rise.
Little did we know it was for Norma's surprise.

From T-shirts, to cookbooks and pancakes galore!
God was working on Norma, her faith to restore.

Up and down hills she walked every day,
To God up in heaven at night she would pray.

Back home it was awesome how our money did grow,
So that in Honduras God's blessings could flow.

We knew in Honduras a house we would build,
But little did we know how our hearts would be filled.

On Friday we worked at the site on the hill.
With shovels and pick axes we used all our skill.

With a smile on her face, we met Norma there.
She understood that God was answering her prayer.

But we still didn't realize how two became one.
We just knew our backs hurt, but still it was fun.

We gathered at church on Saturday night.
To Norma's eyes we were a blessed sight.

With a heart full of joy and tears in her eyes
She told how we blessed her as we flew from the skies.

Many prayers to her God the last months she did raise,
And we were the answer to those words of praise.

The silence was deafening as the meaning came clear.
Norma's prayer to her God is why we are here!

We here in Minden and she over there.
Miles apart yet joined by a prayer!
