"A Little Can of Oil"
Author Unknown
I read recently about a man who carried a little can of oil with him everywhere he went.
If he passed through a door that squeaked, he poured a drop of oil on the hinges, and if he
was passing a gate that was hard to open, he oiled the latch. So he passed through life
lubricating all the creaking places, making it a little more pleasant for those who followed
after him.
We could apply this principle to our lives. There are many lives rusting away in sin; many
lives creaking in unhappiness. If only we could stop and drop a little oil of "brotherly love"
and "human kindness," - just think of how much good we might do! There is no telling how many
lives we could keep from rusting and how many gates we could open to happiness. Let us carry
and use this little can of oil.
